Roman Missal Implementation
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding the hopes of the Church for this new translation, Planning for implementation, and forming Catechists, Liturgical Ministers and other Lay Leaders may all be part of the steps a parish takes to begin the remote preparation for the new texts, as well as part of ongoing formation around the Mass. In April of 2010, the recognitio was granted. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops devised a one year plan for the implementation of these changes. That plan was to have begun in November, 2010. We’re prepared to help you adapt the one-year plans, to help you use what we know about leading change to assist your parishioners, and to help you consider what is involved in taking this opportunity to catechize more fully regarding the Mass. There’s a LOT of material available now. What we’ve got to offer are some free resources, some modules you can order and deliver yourself and some services to help you get ready. Beyond November….We’d also like to help you think beyond November 27, 2011, the first date of use of the new missal. What about those who come to church only intermittently: Wedding guests and brides and grooms? Those who come to funerals? Young people, visiting parents? Those searching for the comfort of their past? What does systematic catechesis about the liturgy look like? How might that help us? Since no two parishes are alike, this requires individualized consultation. We’d be happy to be the thought partner you trust for this work.
